This is a really good article. Good job. ^^
To person #3, the person here is just trying to point out how cosplaying just isn’t meant for Americans. Manga/Anime/Game characters are usually modeled after asians so if a westerner were to try to pass themselves off as one, it just doesn’t look right. Japanese people and Americans look completely different. Besides, you Americans always try to twist the characters into your own ideal. It always comes out… Halfway. Don’t. Learn from the french. Please.
And on another note, people are free to cosplay, but why the hell do they have to put the pics up on the web. Enjoy it privately. Don’t put it on the internet for other people to see and hurt their eyes with.

The person who made this is BLIND. This makes me sad. Some of those japanese ones aren’t even the same costumes, look at the Cloud. That’s from the movie, and the american did a fine job as this http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/2495/fotofinalfantasyvii.jpg goddamnit. And THAT’S NOT SEPHIROTH! It’s Kajad! If you think that’s a good cosplay of Sephy then you’re blind. Come on, what makes a good cosplay isn’t just the photo editing.
Cosplay isn’t as popular in Japan than in western countries, so a lot of crap comes from here. But not all are that shitty, for fucks sake. This is just terrible.
Anyways, I hope you will meet good american cosplayers some day, so you understand.
And Im not American, Im from Finland.

This article is entertaining enough, but I’ve seen just as many horrible non-American cosplayers as American. …Americans having the tendency to be more overweight than other countries doesn’t help.
That being said, there are many, many wonderful American cosplayers – and I don’t think it’s something that should be restricted to Asia. That’s just petty, frankly. XD Or are we going to say that only Americans can dress up as comic superheroes…?
Elina, while you admonish people for uploading their pictures, they are free to do so, and on a sadder note, some of these people were probably photographed as jokes so that their photos could be posted and openly mocked. I’ve heard of people doing this before. It’s quite sad.
Also, anime and manga characters (the ones with big eyes, anyway) were modelled originally to look like Disney characters – an American creation. Many of them are made to resemble distinctively non-Asian colour palettes (think blonde hair and green eyes). That being said, I think everyone should be able to cosplay whatever they wish… regardless of size, nationality, or talent.

I agree with Rivvi. I know there’s actually a surgery that Asians use to make their eyes appear bigger, less Asian, more American. And if you want to truly debate this issue, you need to get proper pictures to actually weight the pros and cons. All this article is doing is making you look raciest. Im not an American, im French but your just disgracing your country with this.

You shouldn’t discriminate people like that, you know. What if it doesn’t fit them? They do what they love, and you’re not one to dictate. That’s just plain mean. I am asian.
